The Eagles fell well short of expectations this past season, going 8-8 and missing the playoffs for just the fourth time in 13 seasons under Reid's leadership.

Lurie said Tuesday that 2011 was the "most disappointing" season of Reid's tenure with the Eagles, but added that if he didn't think next season would be "substantially better," he would be announcing changes. He said that if the goal is to win a Super Bowl title, Reid is the Eagles' coach.

Philadelphia has gone 126-81-1 during the regular season under Reid, who has the most wins in franchise history.
